The Great 108 - Washington, DC + Livestream

  • St. Mark's Yoga Center - Adams Room (downstairs) 301 A Street Southeast Washington, DC, 20003 United States (map)

Whenever I offer the equinox practice, students will ask me the significance of the number 108, and usually follow up with “why on earth anyone would want to repeat that many sun salutations in a day?”

For me, it’s a complete reset: physical toxins are eliminated, mental stress goes silent, spiritual connection deepens.

People interpret the meaning of 108 through various lenses, some scientific and some sacred. I look to the numbers themselves when setting intention: 1 offers a new beginning, 0 touches the infinite and 8 represents achievement.

It is also said that 108 nadis, or energy channels, converge to create the heart chakra. This is our center of love and peace. When taking on the challenges of starting fresh, searching within or reflecting back, concentrate your awareness on the heart space to meet your intention with compassion.

What are you stepping into? What inspires you? What brought you to this point in the journey?

The Great 108 will be held at St. Mark’s Yoga Center in Washington, DC and will also be livestreamed. We’ll flow through 3 different styles of sun salutations together. I’ll offer options to take it easy if you need a break and/or ramp it up if you want to break a sweat. Let’s welcome the warmth of spring and vacuum those internal dust bunnies!

In-person AND online event; 2:00-5:00pm Eastern Time
